Talofa lava. I had an awakening during my first Digital Fluency Intensive day last Wednesday. I got to realise, quickly, how much I don't know. It was good to learn about the history of Manaiakalani and be among people who obviously knew a lot more than I did. I can only hope that with some work I will also be able to be as digitally fluent as these people also. I will also need to work on my knowledge of where everything is in order to make the most of the digital tools we are engaged with. I am enjoying learning alongside my colleagues and being a learner in this space as opposed to a leader when required. As I gain more knowledge I will be able to apply this to my work and hopefully be able to grow in what I can do and what I know. The future is exciting!

I love the can-do positive attitude here. The DFI isn't called Digital Fluency INTENSIVE for nothing! But as we progress it will get easier, and hopefully you'll pick up lots of useful things that you can apply to your school context. Remember we are here to support you.

  2. Kia ora Jason,
It was great to meet and connect with you last week. The great thing about starting from the beginning with your digital knowledge base is that you won't have to change many bad habits. Over recent years I have learnt a lot of new skills and shortcuts within the Google Suite, but it has taken time to break some of those old (and slower) ways of doing things. But in your scenario, you will learn the most efficient ways the first time, so you are already winning. As discussed during our first day, if you would like some one to one support, do not hesitate to contact us.

  3. Talofa Jason,
I think with your positive attitude and being willing to make the changes to using the google tools you will definitely be as digitally fluent as you need to be.
    Kind regards,

  4. Talofa lava Jason, thanks so much for joining us and for your positive attitude to learning, even when it includes some time in the learning pit.

Given the high levels of achievement you demonstrate in other areas, I am confident you will meet your goals in this arena too. As others have mentioned, you have a large team willing and available to support you.
